I'm doing a project in my english class dealing with social groups and cliques. It would be great if you guys and girls could help my out by answering these questions. Along with these questions, please include your first name, your age, and what city you live in(and your school, if you feel comfortable sharing).
1.What social group or groups do you think describes the group you belong to? Examples include jocks, preppies, goths, emos, skaters, band kids, stoners, geeks(technology), nerds(books), drama kids, rednecks, debate kids, etc. Feel free to name a group that is not on this list(I'm not trying to be offensive with any of these names, I'm just putting them down simply).
2.Why did you choose this group? Why did it appeal to you?
3.Optional extra details about your group- music, clothes, attitudes, life views, political views, etc.
4. How do you feel about being classified into a group?
5.If you were to change your group, which group would you switch to and why?
6. Are you able to move across social groups at your school? Why do you feel that you are able to do this?High school social group survey?1. im in the group that everyone looks up to and wishes they were in. me and my friends are what most ppl call %26quot;abercrombie girls%26quot; because that is the brand we wear.
2. this group has always been this way and my friends and i made it together so we didnt accept eachother we started it together.
3. we have our own table at lunch that no1 sits at but us. every1 asks us when tryouts are for our group and we keep telling every1 that there isnt going to be tryouts. ever.
4. i like being in the %26quot;cool group%26quot; but i dont like when ppl think were stupid because we wear abercrombie because that isnt true at all.
5. i would never change my group. emo-no thnx goth- i hate black and love pink drama- not really my thing and i could only see myself where i am.
6. i am able to talk to every1 and i an extremely social with all of the groups. i dont care what group your in just as long as ur respectful to the other groups.High school social group survey?1. I honestly don't know where I belong to. I'm usually in a group that has no drama, don't hate %26quot;too much%26quot; on people, and we're really nice. So whatever group that is. I'll call it the interracial group or international group since we're all from different areas.
2. I chose this group because they are just like me. We view things the same way. We know what is right and wrong
3. Music: pop, punk, rock, r%26amp;b
Cloth: casual, sometimes we get dressy
Attitude: friendly
4. I feel great. To me I see ourselves as a good group, we do gossip a lot about the stoners and the preppy kids though hihi
5. If I would change it too, I would go to the preppy one I guess because well, I'm similar to them a little bit than other groups
6. Yes I move across groups. I go to the nerd kids and talk or the drama kids as well. I'm able to move because I have friends who belong to almost every single group.High school social group survey?1.What social group or groups do you think describes the group you belong to?
Idk,it's a mix. %26quot;nerdy Black girls%26quot; will fit.
2.Why did you choose this group? Why did it appeal to you?
I always end up in this situation; It's like i'm doomed this has happened for the past 3 school years
First day of school: Have 8+ people sitting at my table
A Few days later: Kids switch out and have different lunches, left with 4 (or less people less)
A few months after: the 4 or less people move, leaving me and 1 other person, sitting alone, looking like total nobodies.
3.Optional extra details about your group- music, clothes, attitudes, life views, political views, etc.
4. How do you feel about being classified into a group?
I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.
5.If you were to change your group, which group would you switch to and why?
Prolly the Preps,I just hate beign alone and being looked down upon but my parents refuse to buy me clothes so I'm stuck here.
6. Are you able to move across social groups at your school? Why do you feel that you are able to do this?
i'm too unpopular to do this. :(1.What social group or groups do you think describes the group you belong to?
i don't have a social group at all. i'm pretty cool with members of every clique. my three best friends are all in different cliques from one another, and we all get along great with each other. i guess it's our diversity that helps us just %26quot;click%26quot; so well.
2.Why did you choose this group? Why did it appeal to you?
i didn't really choose the group. i just talked to everyone who would talk back, lol. while i will admit that because i don't have a certain group, i feel sort of left out, or like i don't belong, but i like the fact that i can go hang around the %26quot;weird kids%26quot; and still have friendships with them; and i can go to the group of preppy/popular and still have friendships within their clique.
3.Optional extra details about your group- music, clothes, attitudes, life views, political views, etc.
i wear, whatever i feel like wearing, that day. i don't ONLY wear one brand of clothing. the clothes i wear, are as diverse as the people i hang out with. i listen to literally every single genre of music except for lil wayne and soulja boy because i enjoy REAL rap music.
4. How do you feel about being classified into a group?
i'm not classified in a group :)
5.If you were to change your group, which group would you switch to and why?
i don't really feel the need to change. i like being able to identify with people of all different walks of life.
6. Are you able to move across social groups at your school? Why do you feel that you are able to do this?
most people can't, just for the simple fact that the people who are in cliques, have been in that clique since preschool, and having someone new in the social group can get kind of awkward. but i suppose if the person wanted to bad enough, they could.Im in the Senior citizen group.
I aged into this group and we are wise.
I love Classic rock, motown, I wear whats appropriate for the occasion, my attitude is positive and I believe as a nation we are going to struggle but it will get you youngsters to open your eyes and stop taking life for granted.
I am glad I am in the Senior Citizens Group.
I would change into the deceased group cause I don't want to suffer any more.
I have always been able to move across social groups while continuing my education because I am older and wiser and I am not a threat to anyone, according to the way the youth think today.1.What social group or groups do you think describes the group you belong to? Examples include jocks, preppies, goths, emos, skaters, band kids, stoners, geeks(technology), nerds(books), drama kids, rednecks, debate kids, etc. Feel free to name a group that is not on this list(I'm not trying to be offensive with any of these names, I'm just putting them down simply). I'd say I'm a combo of Nerd, Goth, and Emo.
2.Why did you choose this group? I chose Emo: I tend 2 have depression problems %26amp; I write 2 express my EMOtions, etc. I chose Goth: B/c I of my spiritual beliefs I chose Nerd: B/c I love 2 learn Why did it appeal to you? Those r who I am, I would've chose Drama, but Drama classes haven't opened yet.
3.Optional extra details about your group - music, clothes, attitudes, life views, political views, etc. I have a very quirky %26amp; diverse style
4. How do you feel about being classified into a group? Its dumb b/c I'm individual
5.If you were to change your group, which group would you switch to and why? I wouldn't
6. Are you able to move across social groups at your school? Why do you feel that you are able to do this?

When is it/what is appropriate to bring 'things up'?
you know when you'v had an 'odd moment' with your partner, say a minor disagreement..because one was being more pedantic than the other about something. Especially over a phone call?...would you bother bringing it up the next time you met?..just to 'make sure they didn't take offence, because you noticed there attitude changed over your comment'?, or would you forget it %26amp; carry on like normal. Simply continue to show it didn't matter? - I always have a hard time trusting that the other person is Ok, and not secretly resenting me..maybe its because I am guilty of this myself before?..how do I stop my behaviour :PWhen is it/what is appropriate to bring 'things up'?Just wait till a quiet timeWhen is it/what is appropriate to bring 'things up'?well i was the one to always call/text/ whatever my friend %26amp; i got tired of it after a couple of months so after one of his drunken escapades i texted him %26amp; said maybe we shouldn't be friends anymore. he got all fussed up about it %26amp; he wanted to fix things %26amp; everything %26amp; so he came over %26amp; now we're friends again.
point being, if there's something bothering you, bring it up. don't wait awhile. just say i know this might be a tad bit awkward but i wanted to get your stand on this. la la la. you can't really stop it either. it kinda just happens. but since i didn't let it carry on, he actually makes an effort to do talk to me first once in awhile. When is it/what is appropriate to bring 'things up'?IF it warrants it, bring it up sooner rather than later just to make sure everybodies okay. Start with an apology if necessary. As soon as possible the next time you talk... Though try and find a quiet place! (Oh, and chocolates help.)ahh i wish all guys are like u.
wen i wanna talk, they say there are busy. *sighs*
i dunno what to do anymore tbh
i say go for it! it wont hurt and it will only jusy clear the air around u two.

Did a Reiki healing course? How would you describe yourself before, during and after the cleansing period.?
BEFORE: How did you feel, what was your attitude, were you healthy, was there anything you wanted to change about yourself?
DURING: How did you feel and describe any experiences during your self-healings?
AFTER: Is your outlook on life any different than when you started. How is your your physical, emotional and physical health? Did you have any problems during the cleansing period?Did a Reiki healing course? How would you describe yourself before, during and after the cleansing period.?Hi there,
I'm a reiki level 2 practitioner.
Prior to receiving any attunments and committing to the path of reiki, I was a complete mess to put it simply. I had mood swings, depression, was in constant pain and was just generally pessimistic and egotistical (not a good combination!)
Reiki came to me when I was at my lowest ebb, a friend of mine who is reiki attuned gave me a session and there was no looking back from there. From that point I knew that it was for me.
I finally took my level 1 degree and during the process I had lots of powerful visions coming through, the attainment helped to strengthen my psychic abilities which came as a huge shock.
During the self healing and cleansing period for 1st Degree, I didn't have any major problems. It was when I went on to do the 2nd Degree that I had lots of visions, flashbacks, emotions, cold symptoms etc. and had a bit of a rough ride during that period. But then I came through it, trusting the energy and spirit would get me through this phase.
I treat people and animals now professionally and self treat on a daily basis. I absolutely love the journey that I am on. I find that I am a lot more positive and my outlook on life has changed completely for the better.
BlessingsDid a Reiki healing course? How would you describe yourself before, during and after the cleansing period.?I am a reiki level 2.
Prior to learning reiki I was in a wheelchair and my doctors told me I would more than likely never walk again. I suffered with arthritis, spinal compressions and arterial damage. I had no feeling in my left hand at all and none in my right leg as well. I was not what I would call %26quot;healthy%26quot; by any stretch.
Once I heard about Reiki from a friend of mine, I was very skeptical and told him that it was a load of crap. However, something kept telling me to at least try it. So I scheduled a therapy session and laid down on the table for the single most life changing event I've ever had.
I didn't expect anything, I was just willing to try anything at all to take away some of the pain and inflammation. When I sat up from the table I went to grab my bottle of water. The only thing was...I was using my left hand to grab it. Nothing has been the same since.
Now, it gets weird...when my friend who has been a Reiki master for fifteen years, finally initiated me into Reiki as a level one, he said it was very weird for him because he's initiated over a hundred people since he's been doing it and he said he's never experienced such a powerful flow of energy in his life as when he was working with me. He didn't just pull me aside and say this to make me feel better or anything, he actually brought this up during our class of 6 people. He said that each one of the students had their own special ability to act as a channel for Reiki but that I brought about a change in him instantly as he was do my initiation.
Then it got even more weird. I had a friend who was several hundred miles away who seriously needed some help and my instructor actually had me doing a distance healing with him after just my first instruction. While it was not the norm, I have sinced learned that it doesn't really matter all that much.
After: very simply put, I could write a book on the experiences that I've had since becoming a level 2. I cannot even describe everything here because it would take too long...Let's just say this much though: I am no longer in a wheelchair. I do yoga daily and I am getting ready to be cleared by my physician in two weeks so that I can do a five K run. I've quit smoking and I no longer take any medications of any kind (whereas before I was on a daily pharmacy's worth of meds)...and there is no greater gift that anyone can have than to have their life given to them with such love and power.
For the naysayers: your words mean very little without true experience, save your time and go elsewhere...though we love you like children, as children should sometimes be silent, so should you until you learn.Did a Reiki healing course? How would you describe yourself before, during and after the cleansing period.?god... what nonsensePlease see my other answers for the idiocy known as Reiki.
EDIT Saxilaan. Your words too mean very little without objective evidence to support them. Anybody can claim anything. It's a lovely touching story, and I've seen a thousand like it from faith healers, TCM, homepathy, and circulating the internet as chain e-mail spam.
What I have never seen is a shred of evidence to support the outlandish claims.

How do I stop homesickness from holding me back and go for my true loves and dreams?
Hey everyone. I have SO much I want to accomplish and do and it's so exciting. I want to join the Peace Corps and help wildlife in another country once I get my degree! I want to intern in Hawaii and Alaska, and get a great job dealing with wildlife. Sounds great and go for it, right?
Well, it's not that simple... I'm an incredibly sentimental person for my parents and my home. My dad is my best friend and the moment I start thinking about my childhood and teenage years with him, playing games, listening to science fiction tapes, going on the computer, and just buddying around, it makes me want to cry and forget all of it and go for nursing or something. I breathe a sigh of relief knowing he'll be near me physically if I do that, then I want to cry because all my dreams have turned to dust. As a result, I obviously spend a lot of time crying and changing my major and that's not doing much but spinning my wheels into the dirt. I know I'm the graceful young woman I am today because of him and I don't want to leave him. I talked to him about it and he goes, %26quot;Aw, y'know, you'll meet someone and your attitudes will change. Take baby steps and before long you will fly. You never know where life will take you, I never thought I'd move across the ocean when I got older but I did. Sure I miss home but it's okay here too.%26quot; I know he's right but I just can't accept it.
What does a person do? Could some of you life veterans tell me how you felt at my age and what you did? (I didn't want to call you old, but that's what I meant, tee hee.) Or I mean someone my age too that's struggling through this or has done it and can lend me a hand. If you did one or the other, did you regret it and what do you wish you would've done?
I'm at a crucial point in my life where I need to choose a major and it's just killing me. My professors say there isn't much of a job market in this location. Sure, I'd love to move to Canada or something. But I can't stand not being near my parents and I feel like if they pass away or get sick or grow sad because they miss me too, I'd have missed out on so much and I'd feel eternally guilty. I'm so confused and need your help! Thanks so very much! How do I stop homesickness from holding me back and go for my true loves and dreams?I went away to college (100 miles from home) and visited every once in a while. Then I went into the Peace Corps (8,000 miles from home) and stayed gone for 27 months. Some people who trained with me couldn't take it; they left before they swore in.
I don't have any special formula or magic wand. Lots of people do it. There are about 8,000 PCVs serving at the moment, and 160,000 who have served since 1961. All of those soldiers in Iraq are away from home too.
Other people have done it. You can too.

Regarding an answer from my previous question about "loving yourself"...?
One of the answers given included this statement:
%26quot;People who love themselves allow good things to happen to them and they live in ways where good things can happen to them. People who do not have self love do the opposite. They drive away the good in their lives and engage the bad.%26quot;
Can anyone tell me how one %26quot;allows good things to happen%26quot;?
I assume this means having a positive attitude, but how do you change your perspectives like that, and how does this translate into self-love?Regarding an answer from my previous question about %26quot;loving yourself%26quot;...?self-love is selfishness.
We don't have control over things that %26quot;happen%26quot;.
You can build relationship with those who make it happen, but selfishness is an obstacle for building relationships.
