thank you again!I don't want to be mean, but if you have any form of cancer would you help me finish my report for school?1. Acute Myleoid Leukemia

2. hmm... I had went to the walk in clinic with some issues and to have a pap. Doc took blood work because of the issues, but I thought I was just severly anemic, as I had been my entire life. She came back talking about all the things you can tell by looking at blood counts and the first thing she mentioned was aids. I was sitting there for 10 mins (or what felt like it) while she talked terrified I had aids. So when she told me she thought it might be leukemia, I was releaved. And then I started crying because I had an idea of what that meant.

3. My aunt was with me when this happened. We were both in shock but went to the hospital that the doc referred and all that. My mom left her house 4 hours away with nothing but her purse and the clothes she had on. And my cousin whom I was living with kicked me out of my house.

4. YES... Attitude about others for sure.. We were all already having a family fight. And then my cousin and I were fighting for about 3 weeks while I was in the hospital. My mom and aunt had to go get my stuff out the apt that was in my name that she kicked me out of and put into storage, and then she decided I was no longer worth talking to because I offered my mom who was hear on unpaid leave from work some food from our house. Now, my mom is her aunt.. but that was wrong of me because I had told my cousin she could keep all the food I had just bought.

3 years later, we are all back together and talking, but she does not have intimate knowledge of my life and never will again as she used a lot of personal things against me to hurt me on purpose.

And I used to have great respect for my aunt and her wife. But after cancer, all I see is that they complain about everything they have when they have sooo much more than many others.

5. They say leukemia is not herditary, but... I had a third cousin die as an infant with aml, and my great aunt is cml. I have several cousins who have had breast cancer. And my other aunt died of colon cancer when I was 18, her husband with throat cancer 2 years before.

6. No. The doctor I started with left my hospital a lil over 6 months ago. While there was no personal relationship, he knew everything about me. It is difficult sometimes dealing with docs who dont know everything and dont have the desire to. My original doctor was an amzing person and doctor. He left to go into research. I am in remission, not going through treatment, but dealing with the effects of stem cell transplant. They dont retrun messages, he-haw around a lot, and dont take the time to sit down and listen to me.

7. I am not currently going through cancer treatment, but am being treated for gvhd, depression and anxiety

8. No, its not. I was 21 when diagnosed and qualified for public benefits. I have never had a problem with them paying for stuff. However, I only barely qualified. I get the statements for everything.. over 3.5 years, my total med costs are somewhere around 3 mil right now. My monthly meds are about 2500 before insurance. Definatly not affordable for anyone.

9. I was reffered to another doc, but the person that found the tell-tale signs was not an oncologist. I did stick with the first doc at the hospital. And that was a good choice. He was an awesome doctor.

10. Every protocol I have done has been a trial. The first one was no bid deal, and I was actually randomized into the control group. The second one was also no big deal, and was testing 2 already approved meds together. The third one was testing a new chemo. It was a big deal as I had severe reactions to it. But I dont regret it. And then my stem cell transplant was also a trial. I used two units of cord blood. Using one unit of cord blood has been approved for years. But one unit typically does not have enough cells to support engraftment for an adult sized person. I had no siblings to match, and no donors in the National Marrow Donors Program who matched. Apparently I have a rare tissue type. But there were cord blood units that would work with me, so they put me in the trial. I almost did not do it, because it meant going to another hospital. It was only an hour away, but a stem cell transplant meant being away from home for 3-4 months. And m public insurance would only pay for 1 unit of cord blood, not 2, and that is a phenomanal cost. But without me even knowing, the docs did a bunch of forms and letters and got the whole transplant approved and paid for. After some thought, I went ahead with the trial and transplant because I was the only person my state medicaid had approved for the proceedure. I decided that I didnt have much to loose, a lot to gain, and if I made it through, it could help others get this treatment.
